OK, so I go down to Powell to fish one last time, untill I start to go back in September, with the sole intent of going way back in the San Juan and creating the same kind of magic Skeet and Rick did during the Bullfrog Open (45 three pounders in one day). Well it didn't quite happen. We went back to the Spencer Camp area and caught quite a few fish, including some bombers, but we didn't have one of those magical kind of days where all you do is point and shoot and the big ones all jump in the boat. None the less we had a great time and look forward to the fall sessions. BTW the afternoon water temp., Saturday when we left the back of the Juan, was like 77 degrees and climbing.

Deer Creek SUCKS FOR BASS FISHING! that's right folks. Trout fish, jet ski, wind surf, kite board, water ski, wake board or just go boating but unless you like to get aggraveted don't go bass fishing at deer creek. The wind blows like hell most every day and all six bass in that lake combined don't total up to more than nine pounds. GO FOR A PICNIC BUT SAVE YOUR SANITY AND DON'T GO BASS FISHING AT DEER CREEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is how we are going to weigh our fish at Deer Creek. We have eight hand held scales that the club owns so eight boats will have club issued scales. The rule at Deer Creek is one fish over twelve inches. This means once you put a fish over twelve in your live well your done until you verify weight and release it. We are going to send boaters out alone if there is not an even amount on both sides. Having said that if you do not have another angler that is in the tournament on your boat you will need to find someone else in the tournament to weigh and verify your fish. Once you have agreed on a verified weight for the fish the person that weighed your fish will immediately release your fish back into the lake.
BOOGITY, BOOGITY, BOOGITY, LETS GO FISHING BOYS!!!!!

Let's talk about cash, I'm thinking $30 per person for individual tournament entry fees and sixty bucks a boat on team tournaments. Five bucks on individual and ten on team would go to the club fund to pay for trophies etc., five and the respective ten would also go to big fish 100% and the other twenty would be paid out 80 / 20 to first and second place. On team tournaments the money will be paid out to the first and second places boats even though the point dispersment will most likely be different. First and second place at each tournament will also get a trophy or plaque, this will coincide with the point dispersment.
confusing? not really just read it slower.
be cool

Here's the skinny on how the club tournaments will run point wise. There are 4 tournaments, two of these tournaments are team tournaments. Each tournament will have a total of 100 points available. The winner of a individual tournament (boater / non boater) will recieve 100 points and so it will move down the list. (2nd-99 points, 3rd-98 points, etc.) There will be no difference between boaters and non boaters. The team tournaments will be scored like this; whatever place the boat takes is what the place the boat takes in the tournament. If two club members are fishing on the same boat which ever angler boated the biggest fish weighed will recieve one more point than his or her partner. An example would be if two club members are fishing on the first place boat the 1st and 2nd place points would go to that boat with the person scoring the biggest fish of the sack taking first and the other taking second. If the first place boat has only one club member on it it still takes first meaning that club member takes first no matter who he is fishing with and second and possibly third would go to the next boat in line.
IF ANYONE EVER HAS ANY QUESTIONS ON ANYTHING I AM DOING OR SAYING WITH ANY OF THIS STUFF PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CALL ME OR EMAIL ME AND I WILL TRY TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND PH.# 801-824-7633, EMAIL jsj1@avtruck.net
THE ENTRY FEES AND PAYOUTS WILL BE THE NEXT TOPIC - BE COOL

OK the TBF spring qualifier is in the books and NO I didn't win it. I know I'm as surprised as you are. Anyhow a couple of club guys did do quite well and I'd like to give a shout out to Steve Christenson - first place day 1, Joe Johnson - second place day 2 and Greg Pink - third place day 2.
On that note it's time to start thinking about club tournaments and the coveted angler of the year prize. This year we are partnering with AIR VISION to bring you the AIR VISION ANGLER OF THE YEAR AWARD. The angler who accumulates the most points after our four club tournaments will walk away with $500, a very cool trophy and a free boat, truck or car detail provided by AIR VISION. It breaks down like this, the club is kicking in $250 and if you have an AIR VISION decal (provided by AIR VISION, one per member) in the back window of your tow vehicle when you show up to each club tournament throughout the 2012 season you'll recieve another$250 from AIR VISION and a certificate for a full detail on either your boat, your truck or your wifes car.
STAY TUNED CLUB SPECIFIC TOURNAMENT RULES ARE ON THE WAY VERY SOON!!

Lake powell was beautiful last week and weekend! I only got to enjoy the weekend part but I had one of the better early spring days I've ever had. I caught a 6.5, a 5, a 3.5, three 2's, two 1.5's and a 1.25. I also broke one off (felt pretty big) had three get off and missed four bites.
Culver, Rusty, Pink, Joe Skinner, Kenn Snyder, Reutlinger and Scott Nelson were all down there and they all said they had multiple good days.
I'll bet next weekend is better, wish I could go but I gotta build a chicken coop.

Here is a copy of an email George sommer (the UBF President) sent out today.
Club Presidents,
We have been getting individuals sending their TBF/FLW dues to the UBF Treasurer. I have asked Dane to send those checks back to those individuals. We will gladly take individual checks for UBF DUES. ALL TBF/FLW DUES go directly to TBF and are supposed to go through your club. Any questions you can call or email Tonya at TBF. Their phone number is (580) 765-9031
Tonya's email is: tonya@bassfederation.com
BTW: We have only received one clubs dues and roster - that of High Country Bass Club. Please get your dues and roster to Dane ASAP. And please do not put your State Team members in jeopardy by not sending your dues in (TBF/FLW and UBF).
Thanks,
George
I would like to send our rosters, both UTBFN & UBF, in asap but were still waiting on some people and I don't plan on doing it twice.
